The International Wushu Federation Executive Board approved the adoption of the 2024 version of the “International Wushu Taolu Competition Rules and Judging Methods” and the “International Wushu Sanda Competition Rules and Judging Methods” effective January 1, 2025. All IWUF and PAWF events will be using these new regulations for international and intercontinental competition. Subsequently, the team trials for the USAWKF will also follow these new regulations.
To ensure that the technical officials of the USAWKF are properly trained on these new regulation updates, the USAWKF will be conducting special technical training courses for both Taolu and Sanda judges in Lubbock, Texas from June 25th through June 26th.
USAWKF National Judges Course:
Note: Only new judges with no judges license need to sign up for the national level Taolu course. All existing judges only need to sign up for the technical training on the 25th and 26th.
The Sanda and Taolu courses will be held at the same time so participants will have to select which course they wish to attend.
New Sanda Judges Course (June 25-26)
Individuals seeking to certify as a USAWKF National-Level Sanda Judge may do so by enrolling in this course.
Fee: $435 per person
New Taolu Judges Course (June 24-26)
The New Taolu Judges Course consists of two required parts:
National-Level Taolu Judges Course (June 24-25)
Technical Training Course (June 25-26)
Enrollment: New Taolu judges will automatically be enrolled in both courses upon registration.
Certification: Participants must successfully complete both courses to receive a National-Level Taolu Judges License. Those who do not pass will receive a certificate of participation instead.
Fee: $595 per person
The national level Taolu course has a technical examination requiring the performance of one empty hand and one weapon International Wushu Federation routine. Participants are responsible for providing their own weapons.
USAWKF Technical Training Course (June 25-26)
This course is mandatory for technical officials who wish to judge at this year’s USAWKF Taolu or Sanda Team Trials. The final exam of this course will determine who is invited to serve as a team trials judge.
Eligibility: Open to all current USAWKF judges holding valid national, continental, or international judging licenses.
Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will receive a USAWKF certificate confirming their eligibility to judge events using the IWUF 2024 regulations.
