On January 18, 2023, the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) debuted the first IWUF Athlete of the Year Awards starting for athletes recognized in 2022. It follows the success of IWUF’s Athlete of the Month program, and brings a new prestige to IWUF members, recognizing the hard work, sportsmanship, and commitment of many outstanding athletes from our global Wushu family. After a preliminary evaluation of the nomination information by the IWUF Athletes Committee, 62 candidates from 28 countries and regions were shortlisted in the online voting stage.

The voting categories are split between five (5) categories between both genders:
- Wushu Taolu Athlete of the Year
- Wushu Sanda Athlete of the Year
- Traditional Wushu Athlete of the Year
- Wushu Taolu Rising Star of the Year
- Wushu Sanda Rising Star o the Year
Voting begins at 00:00 on January 18, 2023 and ends at 24:00 on February 18, 2023 (Beijing Time). You can give your votes to the candidates on the IWUF website once every 24 hours.
To vote, you must select at least three (3) candidates and at most ten (10) candidates.
