Information for the 17th World Wushu Championships | The United States of America Wushu Kungfu Federation

The World Wushu Championships return to the Western Hemisphere as Brazil will be the next host. Below is a page to summarize some important points while you plan for and register for this event. Please read all the information below completely so you will be more prepared.

Regulations

Date and Location
The WWC will be held in Brasilia, Brazil from August 31st to September 7th. All participants will be required to arrive by the August 31st and depart on the 8th. Below is a general program

2. Sep 1: Team Training, Judges Refresher Course
3. Sep 2nd: Team Training, Sanda Weigh-In, Judges Refresher Course, Opening Ceremony
4. Sep 3rd: Sanda Weigh-In, Taolu and Sanda Competition followed by awards
5. Sep 4th: Sanda Weigh-In, Taolu and Sanda Competition followed by awards
6. Sep 5th: Sanda Weigh-In, Taolu and Sanda Competition followed by awards
7. Sep 6th: Sanda Weigh-In, Taolu and Sanda Competition followed by awards
8. Sep 7th: Sanda Weigh-In, Taolu and Sanda Competition followed by awards, Closing Ceremony
9. Sep 8th: Teams Depart

Registration

IWUF will be accepting registrations through nation federations only. This means you will need to register through USAWKF and we will register you on your behalf into the IWUF system. The deadline will be July 10th. This is earlier than what is stated in the regulations PDF because we need time to process your registrations and payments and enter everything into the IWUF system.

If this is your first time registering for an international competition through USAWKF you will need to create an account.

Lodging and Cost
As stated above, all athletes and observers, will be required to stay for the entire time of the competition. Unlike, local competitions were you simply pay your registration fee and find your own accommodations, international competitions are all inclusive packages. Your registration cost will include your
1. Hotel room
2. Meals
3. Competition or spectator entrance fees,
4. Local transportation between the hotel and competition venue.
5. Airport pickup and drop off
The cost of the total package is presented through a daily cost depending on your room choice. Each person can choose to either stay in a room by themselves or share a room with a family member/friend or even stranger to save money.

The options are single rooms, double rooms and triple rooms.
1. The single room option is $296 per day or a total of $2368
2. The double room option is $203 per day per person or a total of $1624. This means the total for both people will be $3248.
3. The triple room option is $176 per day per person or a total of $1408. This means the total for all 3 people will be $4224.
Observers

What if I have a family of more than 3 people? Each person must still choose a room option of single or double, or triple. So that means a family of 4 will need to register for at least 2 rooms. Families with more than 3 people can share a registered room to save cost. One double room may still be big enough to fit 4 people so it is up to you if you prefer to only use one of your double rooms but either way, each person must register for a single or double room or triple room.

For instance, if there are 2 families or 4 then one family could register for a triple room and part of a double room. The other family can register for a triple room and the other part of the previous double room. These 2 families would be registering for 3 rooms and each family would save $744 (the difference of the cost of a single room and one person’s stay in a double room).

Administrative Fee: In addition to this lodging and competition cost, there will also be a $125 administrative fee for each observer. A Team athletes and Team Officials will not need to pay the admin fee.

What if I want to stay longer? If you plan to arrive to Brasilia before the 31st and/or depart after the 8th you will need to find your own accommodations for the extra days. You will not be able to add days through the competition registration.

Competition Categories
Taolu

Each athlete is allowed to enter in one bare-hand routine, one short weapon routine and one long weapon routine. Because our team members were selected by Dao/Gun, Jian/Qiang, Nanquan, and Taijiquan categories you must choose those same styles for the WWC.

Your weight class should be the same that you competed with in the team trials. If you need to change your weight class, please notify us first before registering.

Entrance Visas

All US Passport holders require an entrance visa to enter into Brazil. You must apply for this by yourself. Please see the page below for more information:

Team Uniform

The team warm up uniforms will be provided by a company called Time Out for Sports. There will be an online store for you to order your size with an option to add your name to the jacket. The order is done as a single batch so after you order you won’t receive them right away. Once the store closes then the order is submitted to the manufacturer and all the custom orders and made and then shipped to the local company who will then ship out to all of you.

Required Documents for Registration
Athletes will need to bring with them the following documents:

10.3. Relevant Documents

Upon arrival at the Accreditation Center, team leaders must submit the following documents to the LOC:
- Completed and signed Waiver of Liabilities of all athletes, team officials and observers, which must be signed by his/her parent or legal guardian for the participant who is under 18 years of age.
- Medical Certificates of all athletes issued by a qualified medical doctor from a check-up performed within a period of 15 days prior to the date of registration at the competition (Annex 2).
- Life Accidental Injury Insurance Certificates of all athletes.
The Waiver and Medical Certificate are both included in the Regulations document linked above.

In the past they are not too strict about the content of the actual documents. As for the insurance, many people have provided copies of their medical insurance.
