Consistent with previous PAWC, WJWC and WWC events the cost of the competition is paid by a lodging package that is created by the local organizers (not USAWKF). There is no other way to pay to compete/spectate at this event. This cost will include lodging, airport pickup, breakfasts on each morning and of course the cost to run the event. Please note that the local organizers are not providing lunch and dinner with their package as they felt it the cost would have been too high for participants.
The cost per athlete/observer per night is $250 for a single room or $165 to share a double room or $150 to share a triple.
This can be confusing so here’s an example. If an athlete and a parent/friend/supporter are arriving on the 7th and departing on the 12th that would mean a 5 night stay. If they decided to share a double room each person would pay $165 per night or a total of 165 * 5 = $825. Those two people would be paying a total of $1650.
Athletes are also charged $150 by the local organizers. All participants will also be charged a $125 admin fee to process your registration. Athletes who were A Team members will have the admin fee waived.
With the above fees, then the cost for 1 athlete and 1 observer is $2050. We understand this is not cheap but these events are costly to run.
A family of 4 would need to do 2 double rooms. A family of 5 would need triple room and a double room.
We understand the cost is high. But the costs of putting on an international event like this are very high. And while it’s called a hotel cost, it’s really the cost of everything for the local organizers to hold an event of this size.
Hotel Requirement Update:
The hotel room requirement has been modified. We will now require only athletes to pay for and stay with the official hotel package. Family members can choose to find their own accommodations and then be registered as observers for $325 ($200 to the PAWC/PAKC organizers, $125 admin fee to USAWKF) the observer registration means you get an entry badge into the event as part of the US delegation.
Athletes can share a double room with another athlete or coach.
This means accompanying family members have a choice. They can stay with the included hotel package or they can choose to separate from the athlete to save money by finding their own accommodations. (You might even be able to get a room in the official hotel but with your own reservation.)
We hope this compromise helps everybody, especially those with larger family groups going to the event.
Refund policy: Unfortunately, there can be no refunds. So please only register and pay if you are totally committed to going.
