Information for the 10th World Kungfu Championships | The United States of America Wushu Kungfu Federation

The World Kungfu Championships returns to Emeishan for this year. Below is a page to summarize some important points while you plan for and register for this event. Please read all the information below completely so you will be more prepared.

Regulations

Date and Location
The WKFC will be held in Emeishan, China from October 14th to October 21st. All participants will be required to arrive by the 15th and depart on the 20th. Below is a general program

7. Oct 20th: Teams depart

Registration

IWUF will be accepting registrations through nation federations only. This means you will need to register through USAWKF and we will register you on your behalf into the IWUF system. The deadline will be August 20th. This is earlier than what is stated in the regulations because we expect the US Kungfu Team to be very large and it will take much time to process your registrations and payments and enter them into the IWUF system.

If this is your first time registering for an international competition through USAWKF you will need to create an account.

Lodging and Cost
As stated above, all athletes and observers, will be required to stay for the entire time of the competition. Unlike, local competitions were you simply pay your registration fee and find your own accommodations, international competitions are all inclusive packages. Your registration cost will include your
1. Hotel room
2. Meals
3. Competition or spectator entrance fees,
4. Local transportation between the hotel and competition venue.
The cost of the total package is presented through a daily cost depending on your room choice. Each person can choose to either stay in a room by themselves or share a room with a family member/friend or even stranger to save money.

The only options are single rooms and double rooms.
1. The single room option is $102 per day or a total of $510 if you check in on the 15th.
2. The double room option is $88 per day per person or a total of $440. This means the total for both people will be $880 if you check in on the 15th.
What if I have a family of more than 2 people? Each person must still choose a room option of single or double. So that means a family of 3 or 4 will need to register for at least 2 rooms. Families with an odd number of members can share a room with another family to save some cost. One double room may still be big enough to fit 4 people so it is up to you if you prefer to only use one of your double rooms but either way, each person must register for a single or double room.

Administrative Fee: In addition to this lodging and competition cost, there will also be a $125 administrative fee for each observer and athlete. For families of 3 or more, the admin fee will be 50% off for 3rd person and everyone after that. Discount will be taken after registration is submitted.

What if I want to stay longer? If you plan to arrive to Emeishan before the 14th or depart after the 20th you will need to find your own accommodations for the extra days. You will not be able to add days through the competition registration.

Competition Categories
As in previous iterations of the World Kungfu Championships, there will be internal, southern and northern style categories available for athletes to enter. However, the list is not exactly the same as before. Make sure you look at what is offered here this time to know what category best matches your style/routine.

Please note it is generally not encouraged to do routines of contemporary wushu styles or the compulsory routines that would be performed at the World Junior Wushu Championships. Athletes should be prepared to compete with a truly kungfu/traditional wushu routine. Taiji is an exception to this because the 42 routines are included in this competition.

Duilian and Jiti

The following two are special cases because each country is only allowed one Duilian team and one Jiti team. This will be given on a first come first serve basis. Whichever team that has all the team members complete registration and payment first will be given the spots.

2. Duilian Events (Choreographed Sparring)

Two (2) Person Duilian:
- Bare-hand duilian
- Weapon duilian
- Bare-hand vs. weapon duilian
Three (3) Person Duilian:
- Bare-hand duilian
- Weapon duilian
- Bare-hand vs. weapon duilian
3. Jiti Events (Group Routine)
- Jiti group bare-hand routine
- Jiti group weapon routine (routines with barehand and weapons will be considered weapons)

Traveling to Emeishan
In previous years, most participants would fly to Chengdu and then take a high speed train to Emeishan.

From Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) → Emei Mountain

1. Option A – Direct from Airport • Follow signs in Terminal 2 to Shuangliu Airport Railway Station (双流机场站). • Buy a ticket to Emeishan (峨眉山) using the 12306 app or ticket counter (passport required). • Direct high-speed train takes about 1 hr but runs only a few times daily — check schedules in advance.

2. Option B – More Frequent Departures • Take Metro Line 10 from the airport to Chengdu South Railway Station (成都南站) (~35 min). • From Chengdu South, high-speed trains to Emeishan run regularly (about 1 hr 10 min).

From Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) → Emei Mountain

1. Metro Route • Take Metro Line 18 from the airport to Haichang Road (海昌路), transfer to Line 1, and go to Chengdu South Railway Station (~50–60 min). • Buy a ticket to Emeishan via 12306 app or ticket counter.

2. Bus Route • Take the airport shuttle bus directly to Chengdu South Railway Station (~1 hr, fewer transfers, less walking). ⸻

Tips for Both Airports: • Passport needed for purchase & boarding. • Weekend/holiday trains can sell out — book 1–2 days ahead. • Emeishan Station is ~10–15 min by taxi or bus from the scenic area entrance.

Team USA Members – Arrival in Emei • On October 14th and 15th, there will be chartered competition buses waiting outside Emeishan Railway Station. • These buses will take all arriving athletes and delegates to Hong Zhu Shan Hotel (红珠山宾馆). • No tickets or ID needed — just board and the driver will take you directly to the hotel.

This year the WKFC organizers are also offering a bus option for an additional cost. This is a convenient way to be taken directly to the hotel especially if you are traveling with a group. The chart below has the costs for this service.
The bus service will be added to your total amount. If you want to take advantage of this service then fill in your flight information in the registration system. If you prefer to find your own way to Emeishan then leave the flight information blank.

Entrance Visas

All US Passport holders require an entrance visa to enter into China. You must apply for this by yourself. Please review all information from the Chinese Embassy so you can get your visa. We recommend applying for a simple tourist visa.

Team Uniform

The team warm up uniforms will be provided by a company called Time Out for Sports. There will be an online store for you to order your size with an option to add your name to the jacket. The order is done as a single batch so after you order you won’t receive them right away. Once the store closes then the order is submitted to the manufacturer and all the custom orders and made and then shipped to the local company who will then ship out to all of you.

Required Documents for Registration
Athletes will need to bring with them the following documents:

10.3. Relevant Documents

Upon arrival at the Accreditation Center, team leaders must submit the following documents to the LOC:
- Completed and signed Waiver of Liabilities of all participants (Annex 1), which must be signed by his/her parent or legal guardian for the participant who is under 18 years of age.
- Medical Certificates of all athletes issued by a qualified medical doctor from a check-up performed within a period of 15 days prior to the date of registration at the competition (Annex 2).
- Life Accidental Injury Insurance Certificates of all athletes.
The Waiver and Medical Certificate are both included in the Regulations document linked above.

In the past they are not too strict about the content of the actual documents. As for the insurance, many people have provided copies of their medical insurance.

Optional Tour Package
